From HOD Desk IE

Dear Prospective Instrumentation Engineering Students:

An affectionate welcome to the Instrumentation Engineering discipline. Instrumentation Engineering is one of the oldest engineering discipline. A highly interdisciplinary branch covers major aspects of chemical, mechanical, electrical and electronics fundamentals. It is one of the pioneer and professional branch of engineering that deals with measurement, control, calibration, design, automation, data acquisition, signal conditioning, process equipment design etc.

Instrumentation engineers usually work for automation of process industries such as chemical, petrochemical, oil refineries or manufacturing plants like steel, cement, fertilizers, pharmaceutical, etc. with the goal of improving system productivity, reliability, safety, optimization and stability.

Tools required for the automation e.g. DCS, PLC, SCADA, are covered under the curriculum of Instrumentation Engineering. This stream of Engineering includes the detail study of pneumatic, and hydraulic instrumentation systems as well. Computerized controls are used at a very large scale in process industries, refineries, petrochemical industries and many more. Growing requirement of control and computing has created a large space for “Research in Instrumentation”.

I am very proud and happy that the major strength of the department is team of well qualified, experienced and dedicated faculties who are continuously supporting the students for the academic excellence.
